Mining Dynamics

SAP

SAPOn 18 May, 2007 Runge announced it had teamed up with SAP to become part of their Industry Value Network (IVN), which also includes mining companies and technology partners, to address the mining industry’s needs and business challenges. The IVN includes representatives from the Industry Advisory Council for Mining such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Anglo Platinum, Codelco, Exxaro, Foundation Coal, Gold Fields, and Goldcorp. Other key partners include Meridium, Technidata, OSIsoft, Citect, and Gijima AST.

SAP

At the same time as Runge joined the SAP IVN, we also partnered with SAP to release a pre-built composite application called xSTMS (xApp Short-Term Mine Scheduling; where xApp denotes it is a composite). An example of the xSTMS application for a SAP process order is outlined in the following steps:

  1. xSTMS is deployed to an xMII server.

  2. xSTMS obtains the short-term plans defined in Mining Dynamics (at a week or shift level) .

  3. xSTMS visualises the information contained in the plan via the SAP portal for approval.

  4. Once approved, this information is then transformed into a SAP process order and sent to SAP (GSAP or 1SAP).

  5. After the process is created, xMII could collect further data from fleet management systems, relate this to the short-term plan from Mining Dynamics, and record this in SAP against that process order.

xSTMS was designed with assistance from BHPBilliton and the SAP Mining IVN which includes other xMII users.
